Lighting plan: The working method of a lighting expert in 4 steps

A good lighting plan can make a world of difference in your home, office, retail space, or hospitality venue. But how do you go about it? Our lighting experts will help you create optimal and atmospheric lighting for any space. In this blog post, we'll explain the four steps of our process, from initial consultation to approval for implementation.

Introduction and inspiration

Creating a well-designed lighting plan begins with an initial meeting in our showroom or on-site. We'll get to know you and discuss all your needs and preferences. Consider the functions, desired style, and the various spaces. This helps us get a clear picture of what suits you and your home or business.

During this conversation we will also tell you what a lamp does, so that you get a clear idea of what we take into account when drawing up your ideal lighting planWhat happens to the light when a spotlight is directed downwards or diagonally downwards? And what effect does light reflection on a wall have, for example?

After this first appointment, we will get to work for you in four clear steps.

Step 1: Floor plan and preparation

The first step is to get a detailed map of your space. This floor plan gives us the necessary insights to create a suitable lighting plan. Once we have this, we'll start looking for the lighting that perfectly suits your wishes and needs for each space.

Tip: Not sure which spotlights are available and what type of lighting? You can see the light pattern of each spotlight in our showroom.

Step 2: Lighting plan sketch

With your input and our expertise, one of our lighting consultants will create a sketchy lighting planIn this phase, your preferences will be considered as a common thread and incorporated into the plan. Our consultant will indicate where the lighting will look best. Of course, there's room for discussion during this phase.

It's best to involve one of our lighting experts as early as possible in the process, for example, during a renovation. At that point, there are still plenty of opportunities to integrate new lighting without limitations.

Good to know: In addition to Berla's extensive product range, we can also assist you with various design brands. We also provide complete solutions for custom LED strips.

Step 3: Stain plan and presentation

The initial lighting plan is then converted into a preliminary lighting plan, which we then further develop into a spot plan. This provides a clear picture of how the spaces will be lit. We include the fixtures used in a report, so you know exactly which fixtures and lighting will be used and where they will be installed.

Step 4: Quotation and realization

After you approve the lighting plan and the fixture overview, we'll prepare a free, no-obligation quote. Do you have any questions or would you like to make any changes? No problem.

Once you've approved the products, we'll get to work delivering them. The installer will then take care of the installation, so you can enjoy perfectly integrated mood lighting in your space for years to come!
