Villa C. – Amsterdam
A dark 70s bungalow transformed into a light, warm and open home.
Light, space and history in balance
Architect Mees Visser designed a spacious and new interior for the renovation of this bungalow. Built in the 70s, the bungalow has undergone numerous additions over the past 20 years. For example, the spatial organization of the original design has faded, and the building volume has made the house darker and more enclosed. The goal was to allow daylight to penetrate deeply into the home.
The goal was to create a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere, while also maintaining a strong sense of privacy. To achieve this, a patio was incorporated into the core of the bungalow. This provided a new source of daylight for the main rooms and served as a focal point for the overall design. Around this bright and intimate space, the architect reorganized the rooms, creating expansive views from one side of the house through the patio to the garden.
This concluded the project with a complete renovation, with attention to materialization, detailing, lighting and technical installations.
