Monumental farmhouse
Interior architect Marieke de Jong has breathed new life into an impressive monumental farmhouse with her latest project.
Authentic craftsmanship meets modern design in a timeless farmhouse.
The renovation is characterized by the thoughtful combination of authentic beams and a contemporary interior. The careful integration of historical elements into a modern design is a testament to de Jong's mastery. Every detail has been carefully considered, giving the farmhouse a timeless harmony.
Berla's innovative lighting designs subtly balance the historic elements, such as the original beams, with the farmhouse's contemporary interior. This symbiosis of old and new is reflected in the carefully placed fixtures that illuminate the spaces while simultaneously making a visual statement.
The former stable has now been completely transformed into a kitchen, with the kitchen island as the absolute focal point of the room. The drawer fronts are covered in Vero Metal, while the countertop is a subtle slab of marble. The rounded edges of the island give it a welcoming feel, making it suitable for both relaxed conversations at high chairs and a cozy sitting area.
A room divider extends the length of the living room, preserving the view to the rear. This element serves as a stylish semi-divider between the dining area and the relaxation area. The room divider is filled with functional elements, such as a fireplace, a concealed TV, alcoves, and even a small workspace. As a result, the space requires minimal fixed furniture.
A beautiful result that embraces the past and the future.
